From January to March this year, there were 2,818 new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases recorded nationwide, according to the Department of Health. The reported cases between January 2015 and March 2020 totaled 55,171. Of the new HIV cases in the first three months of 2020, there were 197 deaths. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
