Woman’s search for herbs turns scary after snake bites her

TAGBILARAN CITY—A search for herbs by a woman turned scary after she was bitten by a snake in the town of Catigbian, Bohol province on Tuesday (July 14).

The woman, Aniceta Sapid, 54, was hospitalized.

Sapid, of the village of Mahayag Norte, was believed to have stepped on the snake, whose species she could not identify.

She suffered puncture wounds from the snake bite.

Sapid first went to an albularyo, or folk healer, to remove the poison but she eventually decided to seek treatment at the Catigbian District Hospital.

She was transferred to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City where she was given anti-venom injection.

The woman was in stable condition.
