CIDG-7 named country’s best
THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) was named the CIDG’s best regional office nationwide for 2011.
It was the first time since 2000 that the Central Visayas ranked number one among the 17 regional offices in the country.
Senior Supt. Jose Pante, regional director of the CDIG-7, will receive the awards today in Camp Crame during the 59th CIDG anniversary.
The award was attributed to the several arrest of wanted persons and confiscation of loose firearms by the CIDG-7.
The CIDG-7 also bagged the best Oplan Paglalansag Omega. SPO2 Pablo Gentalian was named the best senior police officer of 2011.
Oplan Paglalansag Omega is an operational plan to run after loose firearms.
Article continues after this advertisementThe CIDG-7 conducted several raids in Danao City last year where it seized hundreds of loose firearms from illegal gun manufacturers.
Article continues after this advertisementThe unit was also responsible for the raid of unlicensed gunmaker last June 2011 that led to the arrest of 16 gun workers.
Pante said the accomplishment was made possible through the cooperation of the entire unit and the public.
Pante said that with or without the awards, the CIDG-7 will continue to run after criminal gangs and resolve high-profile cases./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
