No new case of COVID-19 registered for the 1st time in Eastern Visayas
TACLOBAN CITY –– For the first time since March, Eastern Visayas did not register a single case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday.
Dr. Minerva Molon, director of the Department of Health in Eastern Visayas (DOH-8), however, urged the public not to be complacent and to continue following health protocols to stop the spread of the virus.
“Let us just say that we are doing better in our campaign,” she said.
As of July 14, the region has 653 COVID-19 cases, where only 40 were active with 610 recoveries and three deaths.
Molon attributed the region’s high recovery rate to the cooperation of the people and their families as well as the dedication of the health workers and the local governments in implementing early quarantine, and effective contact tracing.
Among the provinces in the region, Leyte has the highest number of recoveries at 366.
