Cabanatuan City wants to impose stricter community quarantine
CABANATUAN CITY –– Officials here have requested the national inter-agency task force to allow the city to revert to general community quarantine due to rising local cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Nueva Ecija Gov. Aurelio Umali on Tuesday said the request was made by Mayor Myca Elizabeth Vergara, who heads the local task force, to prioritize the health of the residents here.
The city is on a modified general community quarantine, which has more relaxed restrictions against COVID-19.
“This city is the center of commerce and people flock here to buy essential goods. Most of the hospitals are also here,” Umali said
Reports from the city information and tourism office showed that the city registered 40 COVID-19 cases from June 27 to July 8. Twenty-one of these cases had recovered.
