WATCH: Manila opens drive-thru COVID-19 testing site near Bonifacio Shrine

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila City government on Wednesday opened its drive-thru COVID-19 testing site near the Andres Bonifacio Shrine across the Manila City Hall to boost the mass testing of residents as well as non-residents in the capital city.

“Happening at 10am today: Drive-thru covid-19 testing using our recently purchased serology testing machines,” Manila Mayor Isko Moreno wrote on his Facebook page.

“This is part of our continuing effort to massively test, to test EVERY MANILEÑO, especially those who will pass by Lawton,” he added.

Last week, the city government bought three Abbott serology testing machines. Similar to rapid test kits, the machines use blood samples to test residents.

In a separate statement, Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said the Manila Health Department will process the blood samples using serology testing machines.

The newly-opened drive-thru testing center will serve both non-residents and residents in Manila until 5 p.m., the Manila PIO added.
