LEGAZPI CITY –– Eight suspected drug pushers were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Albay and Quezon provinces on Monday and Tuesday, police said.
In Albay, more than 90 grams of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) worth more than P600,000 were recovered during a government operation in Barangay Sto. Cristo, Tabaco City on Monday afternoon, said Cotton Talento, spokesperson for the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the Bicol region.
He said policemen and PDEA personnel arrested George Binco, the drug den’s operator, and four others identified as Vincent Bata, Federico Balista, Danilo Luna, and Norberto Bermas, who were having a drug session. Recovered from them were 11 sachets of shabu (50 grams) worth P340,000.
Also arrested in the same village were Joseph Barcenas, who yielded nine sachets of shabu (20 grams) worth P136,000, and Lanie Fernandez, who had 20 grams of shabu worth P136,000.
In Quezon, police arrested Antonio Dayto, 26, after he sold a pack of shabu to a police agent in Barangay 10 in Lucena City on Tuesday morning, a report from Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea, city police chief, said.
The suspect, who has long been the subject of complaints by villagers, yielded five plastic sachets of shabu.
