MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police chief Gen. Archie Gamboa condemned on Saturday the killing of a police officer and a civilian in Maguindanao on July 9.
Police Master Sgt. Antonio Balasa died in a roadside blast in Barangay Mother Poblacion while on duty, while a civilian identified only as Bobby also died.
“I offer my deepest condolences, on behalf of the whole PNP family, to the family of PMSg Balasa. Let me assure that his family will get the full benefits and financial assistance,” Gamboa said.
Four police officers — Sgt. Larry Amoran, Staff Sgt. Guerrero Domingo, Cpls. Guia Mangrag and Clyde Peria — were injured in the explosion.
