LUCENA CITY – A 58-year-old businesswoman from Infanta town in Quezon province has been recorded as the 198th confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case in the province, local authorities reported Sunday.
In its 3 p.m. Facebook post, the local government of Infanta said the positive test result of “Confirmed Case No. 5” involving a resident of Barangay (village) Poblacion Bantilan was received by the municipal health office past noon.
The latest patient operates a trucking business and had been to Divisoria in Manila before she was admitted to a hospital in Famy town of Laguna province on July 3 after having a stroke.
She was subsequently transferred to another hospital in Laguna where she underwent a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratory test.
“Aside from her stroke, she also suffers from hypertension and diabetes,” the Facebook post stated.
The patient is stable and under strict home quarantine while health authorities are conducting contact tracing to prevent the spread of the virus.
Infanta logged a total of five COVID-19 cases, one of whom has recovered while another one died.
As of Sunday afternoon, Quezon province recorded 146 COVID-19 recoveries while 12 died. The province has 41 remaining active virus carriers.
