House of Representatives records 13th COVID-19 case
MANILA, Philippines — A security staffer of the House of Representatives has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales revealed Saturday.
The new case is the 13th overall in the House of Representatives.
Montales said that the employee who tested positive is a member of the security staff assigned at the office and barracks of the Legislative Security Bureau.
“He last reported for work on July 6,” Montales said. “He is presently on home quarantine. Contact tracing is ongoing.”
Previously, the House Secretary-General announced that a contractual employee in the House’s Internal Audit Department also tested positive for COVID-19.
As of July 10, there are 52,914 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, with 13,230 recoveries and 1,360 deaths.
