MANILA, Philippines — Mindanao will still experience occasional rains through the weekend due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Pagasa’s Friday afternoon forecast showed that cloud bands bringing rains and thunderstorms are still moving along Mindanao, especially its southern parts, including Caraga, Davao Region, Soccskargen, and the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Despite the rains, no weather disturbances like low-pressure area or storms have been monitored near the Philippine area of responsibility.
For the rest of the country, generally fair weather can be expected Pagasa reminded the public to remain ready for rains and lightning strikes due to localized thunderstorms, which may be felt by afternoon and night.
Temperatures in Metro Manila would range from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius and 26 to 32 degrees in Legazpi and Cebu. In Davao, rains would slightly cool down temperatures which will play around 25 to 31 degrees.
No gale warning has been raised which means that fisherfolk and seafarers using small boats can set sail, although sea condition for the eastern part of Visayas and Mindanao would vary depending on thunderstorms.
But for the rest of the country, sea conditions would be slight to moderate. [ac]
