MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Hall of Justice main building as well as its annex building was temporarily closed starting Friday after four court employees were infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the city government said.
In an order dated July 7 signed by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said the shutdown order takes effect Friday to make way for the testing of court employees for the coronavirus and the disinfection of facilities.
“The City Epidemiological and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU) advised the City of the necessity for urgent action to prevent an outbreak,” Belmonte said in a statement, quoting a letter she wrote addressed to the judges at the City Hall of Justice.
The closure will last for seven days to allow disinfection and testing of personnel to finish, Belmonte said.
City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit chief Dr. Rolly Cruz said in the same statement that they will also conduct contact tracing of those who had interacted with the infected court personnel.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) started the disinfection and misting of the City Hall complex on Thursday, July 9. The disinfection ends on Sunday, July 12.
