MANILA, Philippines — ABS-CBN supporters and employees held another caravan on Friday as a last-ditch effort to urge members of the House Committee on Legislative Franchises to vote in favor of granting the network a franchise.
The supporters held the caravan from ABS-CBN’s Esguerra gate towards the House complex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City ahead of the meeting of the panel on Friday afternoon.
A program would be held back at the Esguerra gate after the possible voting for the franchise is conducted.
Kapamilya actors Piolo Pascual, Kathryn Bernardo and Angel Locsin as well as veteran actress Malou De Guzman were also spotted outside the House complex, as they called for members of the House panel to vote in favor of the granting of ABS-CBN’s franchise.
“Compassion na lang (Just show compassion). All the people here are losing their jobs,” Piolo said in a short interview with reporters.
“We are here to ask the Congress to have the compassion to give us the franchise. Masyado na yung pandemya, wag na nating dagdagan pa ang kahirapan sa Pilipinas,” he added.
(The pandemic is too much. Let us not add up to the sufferings of the Philippines.)
De Guzman also voiced support for the network.
“Matagal pong tinangkilik at ngayon ay nakikiisa, sumusuporta para mabigyan ng prangkisa ang ABS-CBN,” she said.
