Magnitude 3.3 earthquake jolts Batanes

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.3 earthquake jolted Batanes on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The earthquake struck at 12:47 p.m. at 24 kilometers southeast of Itbayat.

The tremor was of tectonic origin and had a 15-kilometer depth of focus.

Phivolcs said the earthquake was also felt at Reported Intensity III in Itbayat and Reported Intensity II in Basco, Batanes.

No aftershocks or damage are to be expected, Phivolcs added.
