Fire hits UPLB DTRI building

SAN PEDRO CITY –– Fire hit a building inside the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) campus in Laguna on Wednesday afternoon.
Initial reports from UPLB employees said the fire hit the Dairy Training and Research Institute (DTRI) building and possibly damaged a laboratory inside.
The DTRI is a popular institution on the campus, especially for its processed products like fresh milk and cheese.
In a phone interview, Fire Officer 1 Jinkee Rabang of the Los Baños fire station said the fire started around 3 p.m. and reached a second alarm before it was put “under control” past 4 pm.
The university public relations office has yet to release details, with the fire still ongoing.
