MANILA, Philippines—An official from the Register of Deeds of Marikina City has been called by the prosecution team to testify in the impeachment of trial of Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona.
But before the prosecutors could even identify the third witness and administer his oath, the Senate acting as an impeachment court, decided to adjourn the proceeding. It will resume at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Two witnesses—Supreme Court Clerk of Court Enriquetta Esguerra-Vidal and Marianito Dimaandal, head of Malacañang Records Office—already testified for the prosecution in relation to Corona’s alleged failure to disclose his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth.
