MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will close its headquarters in Guadalupe, Makati City, from July 9 to 10 after four personnel tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“We assure the public that our offices will resume operations as soon as we have completed the sanitation and disinfection of our all offices by Monday,” MMDA chair Danny Lim said on Tuesday.
The four personnel were found positive for COVID-19 through swab tests. Those who had contact with them would be tested as well and were ordered to comply with the 14-day quarantine period.
No entry
All MMDA employees would be allowed to go home at 2 p.m. today to give way to the sanitizing of their work places until Sunday. Entry to the building would be strictly prohibited during the sanitation and disinfection period, Lim added.
For now, the MMDA will house workers who have either been exposed to COVID-19 patients, tested positive in antibody tests, or are still awaiting their test results in its 800-sq-m isolation facility at the Makati office.
The isolation facility was set up in May after 31 of its personnel at the Metrobase on Timog Avenue were exposed to a confirmed coronavirus case.
Lim said that the MMDA had also put in place a protocol for visitors to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Starting Monday, all visitors who have official business with the agency shall stay at the reception area for verification, while personal visits are banned in the meantime.
