Man from Leyte nabbed for rape, acts of lasciviousness
TACLOBAN CITY –– A 59-year-old man from Kananga town in Leyte was arrested on Monday by policemen in Poro town on Camotes Island, Cebu on accusations of rape and acts of lasciviousness.
Benjamin Baluran, a resident of Barangay Tongonan in Kananga, was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Mario Quinit of the Regional Trial Court Branch 12 in Ormoc City on May 13.
Poro policemen received information about Baluran’s presence in the municipality, prompting them to coordinate with their counterparts in Leyte to arrest the suspect.
Baluran was brought to the Poro Municipal Police Station for documentation before he was turned over to the court.
Police Col. Rodelio Samson, Leyte provincial director, said the arrest of Baluran proved that no one can hide permanently from the “long arms of the law.”
