Man dead after SUV slams into parked car, turns it into projectile
TUGUEGARAO CITY—A 60-year-old man died while seven others were wounded when a wayward sports utility vehicle (SUV) rammed a parked car at the village of Baybayog, Alcala town, Cagayan province on Sunday (July 5), police said.
The impact turned the parked car, owned by 46-year-old Lt. Zosimo Sambrano, a policeman, into a deadly projectile that hit Regal Adviento, 60. Adviento was declared dead at a hospital where he was rushed.
Sambrano suffered injuries from the impact of the SUV on his car.
John Kevin Sambrano, the police officer’s son who was driving the SUV, fell asleep while driving the SUV on the way home from visiting the Our Lady of Piat Church.
The SUV rammed an acacia tree before it crashed into the parked car which slammed into Adviento while he was resting on a makeshift wooden bench.
Also hurt in the crash were relatives of Sambrano who were with him in the car.
