House records 12th COVID-19 case

MANILA, Philippines — Another employee of the House of Representatives tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) bringing the total number of cases in the lower chamber to 12, House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales reported Monday.

Montales said that the 12th case is contractual personnel in the Internal Audit Department of the House.

The contractual personnel was one of those exposed to the House employee who also tested positive for COVID-19 on July 1.

“We reported last July 1 that an employee assigned at the Internal Audit Department tested positive for COVID-19. One of those exposed to her, contractual personnel in their Department, also tested positive today. The contractual personnel is asymptomatic,” Montales said.

Montales said that due to the confirmed cases in the House department, the office has been closed since July 2.

As of July 6, there are 46,333 COVID-19 cases in the country, with the recoveries at 12,185 and death toll at 1,303.
