Pagasa: Hot, humid Monday with afternoon and evening rain showers
MANILA, Philippines — Hot and humid weather with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening, will be experienced nationwide on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Dito sa Luzon kasama ang Metro Manila, makakaranas pa rin ng mainit at maalinsangang panahon pero mas mataas ang tsansa ng thunderstorms sa hapon o sa gabi,” Pagasa weather specialist Ariel Rojas said in a 4 a.m. weather forecast.
(In Luzon, including Metro Manila, there will be hot and humid weather but the chance of thunderstorms occurring in the afternoon or evening is high.)
“Sa Visayas at buong Mindanao, makakaranas din ang mga island groups na ito ng mainit at maalinsangang panahon at sa hapon at gabi ay mataas ang tsansa ng thunderstorms,” he added.
(In the Visayas and Mindanao, hot and humid weather will also prevail, with a high chance of thunderstorms occurring in the afternoon or evening.)
Rojas said the rains caused by thunderstorms may last up to two hours.
He added that the thunderstorms will also bring strong winds, lightning, and thunder.
In Mindanao, rains due to localized thunderstorms could be stronger than in Luzon and Visayas and could last for more than two hours, according to Rojas.
“Sa mga nakatira sa tabing-ilog, tabing-sapa at mga mabababang lugar, ibayong pag-iingat dahil posible ang biglaang pagbaha,” he said.
