Body of man fished out from Carigara Bay in Leyte

ORMOC CITY – The remains of a man was found floating in Carigara Bay in Leyte last Friday morning by two fishermen.

The body has been identified as Toto Petallana, 60, a resident of Barangay Barugohay Central in Carigara town. Petallana was last seen by bystanders walking along the shore of the bay before going in for a swim, said Police Lt. Col. Bella Rentuaya, spokesperson of the Eastern Visayas police.

The victim, who has a history of stroke, might have experienced a seizure while swimming, according to his relatives.

Petallana’s body was brought to the Rural Health Unit of Carigara town for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
