LUCENA CITY – At least five new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients and two recoveries have been reported in Quezon province, according to the Quezon public information office (QPIO).
In its noon bulletin Sunday (July 5), the QPIO, citing the latest data from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), said two of the latest cases are from Atimonan town and one each from the towns of Candelaria, Alabat, and Lucena City.
The QPIO also revealed that two virus carriers from Catanauan town in the Bondoc Peninsula district have recovered. The locality has three remaining active COVID-19 cases.
On Saturday, the number of validated virus carriers in Atimonan suddenly jumped to nine cases with the addition of six local health workers who contracted COVID-19.
The town logged 11 cases since the pandemic broke out but one of them had already recovered.
Quezon, now under the modified general community quarantine, has recorded a total of 180 COVID-19 cases. However, 133 of them have recovered and 11 others died.
