DAGUPAN CITY –– The maximum humidity or heat index recorded in this city on Thursday reached 60 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m., according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) station here.
The maximum temperature recorded during the day was 34.7 41 ºC.
The Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council described the heat index as “extreme danger” and advised residents to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and other diseases.
The last time that the heat index reached at least 50ºC was on May 11.
The Pagasa defines heat index as the apparent temperature, or what humans perceive or feel like the temperature affecting their body. INQ
