11 held for petroleum products smuggling in Masbate

LEGAZPI CITY –– Police arrested 11 persons caught unloading over P600,000 worth of undocumented petroleum products at the port of Aroroy town in Masbate province on Wednesday morning.

Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Bicol police, said the men were caught unloading the petroleum products from three pump boats in Barangay Puro around 6:30 a.m.


The pump boat operators failed to present documents to prove that the petroleum products were legally acquired.

Confiscated were 13,330 liters of gasoline worth P528,804; and 1,860 liters of diesel worth P137,514.


The suspects face charges for violation of Presidential Decree No. 1865 for illegal possession, sale, distribution, transportation, trading of petroleum products.
