PNP-IAS to launch admin proceedings vs cops in Sulu misencounter — Banac
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police – Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) will launch its own administrative proceedings against the nine police officers involved in the killing of four soldiers in Jolo, Sulu, “if evidence warrants.”
“Our PNP-IAS is keeping watch on the investigation and they are just monitoring. I know that they will launch their own administrative proceedings if evidence warrants,” PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said over ANC on Wednesday when asked if the PNP-IAS will conduct its own probe into the fatal shooting of four military intelligence personnel in Sulu.
Banac said the National Bureau of Investigation will handle the case of the death of four soldiers to allow impartial investigation.
“We turned it over to the NBI because we don’t want an undue influence in the investigation,” he said.
On Monday afternoon, four soldiers were on board a sports utility vehicle where they were shot dead by police officers some 50 meters from the Jolo police station.
