CEBU CITY –– At least 353 new cases of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Cebu City on Tuesday (June 30), the highest single-day count since the pandemic started.
In a report released at past 4 p.m., the Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) said the city now has a total of 5,494 cases, with 2,602 active, 169 deaths, and 2,723 recoveries.
No deaths were registered on Tuesday.
“No backlogs for the number of deaths. This means that there are no backlogs of death certificates submitted to our office that have been classified as COVID-related,” CCHD stated in their post.
In a press conference on Tuesday, lawyer Rey Gealon, spokesperson of City Hall, revealed that at least 69 employees of the city government contracted the COVID-19 in the past weeks.
These include city health personnel, ambulance service workers, and barangay health workers.
Of the 69 patients, four have died of the disease, including Cebu City Councilor Antonio Cuenco, who passed away last June 27.
