COVID-19 cases in Quezon rise to 160 with 5 new patients

LUCENA CITY –– Five new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients have been reported in Quezon, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 160, authorities reported on Tuesday.

In its 8 a.m. bulletin, the Quezon public information office (QPIO), quoting the latest data from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), disclosed that three of the patients were from Lucena City and one each from the towns of Atimonan and Macalelon.

Lucena has recorded 69 COVID-19 cases, but 66 have recovered.
The three latest patients are the only active virus carriers in the city.

Atimonan has two recorded cases, but one of them has recovered. The COVID-19 case in Macalelon is the first in the locality in the Bondoc Peninsula district.

As of Tuesday morning, Quezon, under general community quarantine, has at least 160 COVID-19 cases, but 127 have recovered and 11 others have died.

Authorities in different parts of the province still keep watch over 31 suspected virus carriers, all confined in medical facilities; while another 70 remains on home quarantine.

Of 41 municipalities in the province, 16 remain COVID-19-free.
