BJMP ties up with DAR to provide food for detainees
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has partnered with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Central Luzon to source agricultural products from agrarian reform beneficiaries as part of the food requirements for detainees in three provinces.
The partnership, which will benefit jails in Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and Zambales provinces, is part of the government’s Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program (EPAHHP), where government institutions work together to support poor people in the countryside through feeding programs in schools and provision of community meals for workers and laborers.
The signing was led by Agrarian Secretary John Castriciones, Cabinet Secretary and EPPAHPP Committee Chair Karlo Nograles and DAR officials.
