Aringay town in La Union gets 1st COVID-19 infection

DAGUPAN CITY –– An 81-year-old Valenzuela City resident is the first coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patient of Aringay town in La Union province on Friday.

In a statement, Aringay Mayor Eric Sibuma said the old man traveled back to his hometown on June 21 so he could receive care from his immediate family.

The province’s contract tracing and diagnostic team tested the man as soon as they were informed about his arrival.

Sibuma ordered a lockdown on Purok 3 of Aringay and instructed the Municipal Health Office, barangay officials, the police, and the local Anti-COVID-19 Task Force to implement protocols for containing the disease.

La Union has a total of 24 confirmed cases of infections, four of whom have died. Only two patients are undergoing treatment, while the rest have been discharged after recovering from the disease.
