Family of 3 returning to Palawan town from virus hot spot Metro Manila test positive for coronavirus

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY—A family of three tested positive for coronavirus after returning from virus hot spot Metro Manila to Busuanga town, raising the tally of COVID-19 patients in the province of Palawan to 26.

Jonathan Dabuit, Busuanga town information officer, on Friday (June 26) said the three new cases involved stranded individuals who had travelled from Metro Manila and arrived in Coron town on June 7 aboard the June Aster, an inter-island ferry.

Dabuit said the three new patients “are all related, one family actually.”

The three infected persons were a 47-year-old man, his 46-year-old wife and their 25-year-old son.

They had been held at the quarantine facility of Coron and tested. Positive results came out on June 21.

Contact tracing for the three new cases is now ongoing. The new patients would be tested again on July 7.

At least five passengers aboard June Aster had tested positive for coronavirus, including the three new patients.
