Party-list Representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo and his wife Angela will be arraigned Wednesday on tax evasion charges in a Quezon City court.

Mikey, the nominee of the Ang Galing Pinoy party-list group of tricycle drivers and security guards, and Angela will enter their pleas before Judge Marie Christine Jacob of Regional Trial Court Branch 100.

Mikey was charged with three counts of tax evasion for allegedly failing to file income tax returns from 2007 to 2009, while Angela faces seven counts for allegedly failing to file ITRs from 2003 to 2009.

In a text message, the couple’s lawyer Ruy Rondain confirmed the arraignment Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

“Yes, we will be there,” Rondain said.

Last year, Mikey posted bail of P60,000 while Angela posted bail of P140,000 on the charges.

Later, the court ordered Mikey to increase his bail to P180,000 after it allowed him to fly to the United States on “semi-official” business from November 14 to December 7. This was to ensure his return to the country.
