“The entire province grieves for the loss of a national icon. His contributions to the fabric of Philippine culture were immense,” Remulla said in a text message.
Revilla Sr. died on Friday at the age of 93, according to his son, Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
Aside from Jolo, Revilla Sr.’s son, Strike, is the congressman in the lone district of Bacoor, while Bong’s wife, Lani Mercado, is city mayor.
The Revilla family is set to issue an official statement, according to Lani’s spokesperson.
