Remote Quezon island town gets 3 new COVID-19 cases, 1 fatality

LUCENA CITY—An island town in Quezon province is getting more COVID-19 cases despite its remoteness.

Three more persons infected with coronavirus were reported in Alabat, a town on the island with the same name off the Pacific Ocean, which already has five cases.

According to the Quezon public information office (QPIO) in a 5 p.m. report, one of the COVID-19 patients in Alabat has died. No further details were available.

In the town of Catanauan, authorities reported one recovery on Friday (June 26). This leaves the town with five cases out of 12 reported on June 16.

Quezon province has a total of 155 COVID-19 cases but 121 have already recovered while 11 died.
