MANILA, Philippines—Lead prosecutor Iloilo representative Niel Tupas said that the denial of the motion to require Chief Justice Renato Corona and his family to testify before the impeachment court would not affect the case.

“Even without the Chief Justice testifying [and] without the family testifying, we can prove our case and we are confident about it,” Tupas said.

The prosecution team filed a motion to subpoena Corona, his wife Cristina, and their two children, but the Senators acting as judges in impeachment trial voted 14-6 to dismiss the motion.

Tupas said that “it would not affect our case even if they don’t testify, we have more witnesses.”
