LUCENA CITY –– The health center in Infanta town in Quezon province was temporarily shut down starting Friday after a health worker was infected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The local government of Infanta announced on its Facebook page that their health office would be close to the public until the “real-time polymerase chain reaction” laboratory test results of all health workers and staff members were known.
Local health authorities have been conducting an aggressive contact tracing to prevent the spread of the virus.
The authorities have advised the public seeking medical attention to temporarily get treatment at the Claro M. Recto Memorial District Hospital or any private physician.
On Thursday, the local government reported that a health worker assigned at the quarantine facility has been infected by the SARS-Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The patient, a 45-year-old woman, is “asymptomatic” and in isolation.
The report did not provide details on how the patient contracted the disease since the locality has no more active COVID-19 cases.
Before the result of the latest validated virus carrier came out, Infanta had two recorded COVID-19 cases. One of them had recovered and the other died.
