Taguig City courts ‘physically closed’ after employee contracts COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — All regional trial courts (RTCs) and metropolitan trial courts (METCs) in Taguig City were ordered closed for two weeks after a court employee tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a joint memorandum issued dated June 25, the Office of Executive Judges in Taguig said all RTCs, METCs as well as Offices of the Clerk of Court in Taguig will be “physically closed” while all court personnel will undergo strict quarantine from June 25 to July 9.

The court employee tested positive for COVID-19 during rapid testing last June 24. The infected employee was also subjected to a swab test.

Court operations will continue through judiciary e-mail and hotline numbers, read the memorandum.

The Taguig City government, meanwhile, said they will assist in the swab testing of judges, employees, and other court personnel.

“The City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit and Safe City Task Force will guide the courts in enforcing safety protocols and will conduct swab tests on judges and employees, including security guards,” it said in another statement.
