PNP records highest single-day COVID-19 tally as cases rise to 579

MANILA, Philippines — Sixty more police officers were infected with the coronavirus disease, increasing the total number to 579, the Philippine National Police said Thursday.

This is the highest number of new infections in the police force since May 13 which recorded 39 new cases.

In a Facebook post, PNP said it aalso documented three more recoveries among its organization. This brings a total count of 317 recoveries in the police force.

COVID-19 deaths among police officers were still at 19.

The nation’s police force also recorded 937 suspects and 674 probable cases.
