Cop reassigned to Bicol tests positive for COVID-19

LEGAZPI CITY — A police officer who was reassigned to this city became the 89th coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient in the Bicol region.

The Department of Health (DOH) and Albay’s Provincial Health Office (PHO) said the 41-year-old officer, a resident of Tondo, Manila, was swab-tested upon arrival from Quezon City on June 7.

Dr. Antonio Ludovice said the patient has a history of exposure to a known COVID-19 patient in at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame.

The police officer, now tagged Bicol#89, first experienced coughing fits three days before he arrived in Albay, according to the data provided by the PHO to the Inquirer.
