Chinese-Filipino group donates vehicles to MPD

MANILA, Philippines — The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) on Monday donated 20 patrol cars to the Manila Police District (MPD) to help improve police visibility and the response time to calls for help.

“The city government is putting greater effort [in arresting] individuals who commit crimes, spread the coronavirus and are a disservice to other residents in Manila … These [vehicles] will greatly improve our police visibility. Reaction time will be swift.

The vehicles will be deployed strategically [to] our precincts and stations,” Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said during the turnover ceremony.

Aside from the 20 patrol cars to be distributed among the MPD’s 11 stations, the FFCCCII also donated six tactical vehicles for Special Weapons and Tactics teams.

Domagoso, meanwhile, lauded MPD director  Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda for the arrest of 21 of the city’s most wanted criminals while Manila was under enhanced community quarantine.

“Their cases involved rape, murder and other heinous crime,” he said.
