‘Sabong’ cop caught in Cebu
MANILA, Philippines – A policeman allegedly manning and betting on a “tupada” or illegal cockfighting game in Lahug, Cebu City has been caught by the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG).
In a report on Monday, the PNP identified the suspect as Police Staff Sergeant Charlito Sanchez Tinoy, a member of the Regional Personnel Holding Accounting Section.
In a raid conducted last Sunday afternoon, Police S/Sgt. Tinoy was arrested with three civilians while manning and betting in the illegal game and violating enhanced community quarantine rules currently observed in Cebu City.
Tupada paraphernalia seized during the raid include gaffs or ‘tari’, cash bets, and several fighting cocks.
According to PNP-IMEG Police Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, Tinoy was previously arrested by IMEG operatives for illegal gambling back in March.
The four suspects were taken to the PNP-IMEG office in Visayas Field Unit and will face criminal complaints for violating enhanced community quarantine rules and engaging in illegal gambling. Jim Mendoza
