BACOLOD CITY –– Five locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Negros Occidental.
Of the five LSIs, four came from Cebu and one from Manila. They were all asymptomatic.
The LSIs include a 22-year-old male from Escalante City, a 36-year-old female from Cadiz City, a 36-year-old male from San Carlos City, and a 43-year-old male from Silay City.
The LSIs from Escalante and Cadiz were isolated in a facility, while those from San Carlos and Silay were home quarantined, said Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.
A 10-year-old LSI from Moises Padilla town was also quarantined in a facility.
Diaz said two female OFWs, aged 32 and 45, also tested positive for COVID-19 and were quarantined in a hotel.
A 38-year-old female from Binalbagan town, who recently returned to the province, also contracted the virus.
