MANILA, Philippines – Curfew hours in Parañaque City has been shortened by three hours to allow working residents to return home at a later period amid the general community quarantine (GCQ), the city government said Friday.
Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez started imposing curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Thursday. It was adjusted from the previous 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew hours.
Olivarez said in a statement that aside from allowing residents to return home at a later period, the adjusted curfew hours will also give residents more time to buy essential goods as public transport remains limited during the quarantine period.
Shorter curfew hours would likewise allow food establishments to operate longer, Olivarez added.
Meanwhile, Olivarez ordered the Business Permits and Licensing Office to conduct regular inspections of all restaurants or food stores to check their compliance with the Department of Trade and Industry’s guidelines.
Under DTI guidelines, food establishments must reduce customer accommodation capacity by 30 percent.
Restaurant and food management must also use a “health checklist” to record contact details and names of its customers for contact tracing as the threat of the coronavirus disease continues.
Quezon City, Mandaluyong City, Manila City, and Muntinlupa City also reduced their curfew hours during the less strict coronavirus quarantine. (Jim Mendoza, Trainee)
