Police say viral video of shooting incident on C5 Road was PDEA ops

MANILA, Philippines — A video of a shooting incident in Taguig City that went viral online was only an operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) last June 17, Southern Police District said on Friday.

Based on the public video on social media, the dashcam recorded a man going out of his vehicle when suddenly two more vehicles stopped in front of him along C5 Road near Heritage Park.

Persons carrying firearms went out of the two cars and started going after the man.

But SPD said the viral video was a buy-bust operation of the anti-narcotics agents.

“As per Taguig CPS (City Police Station) po na may sakop sa area, operation (buy-bust) po siya ng PDEA South not shooting incident po,” the police district information office said in a Viber message to INQUIRER.net.

(As per Taguig police station who oversees the area, it was a buy-bust operation of the PDEA South and not a shooting incident.)

A buy-bust operation is a law enforcement operation wherein an undercover lawman will be sent to catch drug suspects.
