Albay town’s second COVID-19 patient also a nurse

LEGAZPI CITY—Another nurse has been infected with SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, in the province of Albay, according to Bicol office of the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday (June 18).

The patient, a 37-year-old male nurse, was a close contact of the 30-year-old female nurse who had tested positive last June 9 and also did not show symptoms.

The female nurse was from the town of Oas and had been in the team that was administering vaccines to children in the town before she tested positive.

As of late evening on Thursday, more than one-fourth of 86 known infections in Bicol involved health workers.

The latest case, involving the male nurse, brought Bicol’s COVID-19 tally among health workers to 28.

The town of Oas now has two COVID-19 cases, both involving nurses.
