PUERTO PRINCESA CITY –– Three locally stranded returnees in Coron town were confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) positive patients, the town’s health officer said.
Dr. Allan Guintapan, Coron municipal health officer, confirmed on Thursday that the three active cases in that town are residents, who arrived on June 13 aboard 2GO Shipping Lines, and on June 14 who arrived on a “batil” boat.
The patients include a 38-year-old female, who arrived from Metro Manila on June 13, a 19-year-old male, who arrived from Manila on June 14 and an 8-month-old baby.
“The mother of the baby tested positive for the rapid test, but negative for the swab test, Quintapan added.
He said they have started contract tracing. “The contacts would be quarantined in our COVID-19 facility and do the swab and send them to Ospital ng Palawan (ONP),” Guintapan added.
The three Palawan patients remained asymptomatic and isolated in one of Coron’s facilities.
The confirmatory tests were conducted by the COVID-testing center in ONP.
Palawan province now has a total of eight confirmed COVID-19 positive patients, six of them active. These are from the different batches of returnees that arrived in the province after the government eased the travel restrictions.
