Makati urges residents to pay taxes online

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Makati City government on Thursday urged city residents to pay taxes through online payment portals to help lessen physical contact amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

In a statement, Makati Mayor Abby Binay said the city government has launched an online payment portal where city residents can pay their business and real property taxes (RPT) for the second quarter.

Binay said the “process ensures that Makatizens can complete their financial transactions with City Hall without having to leave their homes and offices.”

Citizens can pay taxes by visiting www.makationlinepayments.com or send payments through GCash with the account number 003452-1008-85.

Meanwhile, for the first quarter and delinquent payments, citizens and business owners still need to settle their taxes at the City Hall which is available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Aside from this, the city government offers a 5 percent discount for those who will pay their RPT before the deadline on June 25.

To recall, the Department of Finance (DOF) extended the deadlines for tax payments and other fees for local government units to June 25 in response to the disruptions caused by the pandemic. (Jim Mendoza, Trainee)
