MPD: Friday rerouting scheme set in parts of Manila for Rizal rites

MANILA, Philippines — Some roads in the City of Manila will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic on Friday, June 19 due to scheduled ceremonies to mark national hero Dr. Jose Rizal’s 159th birth anniversary.

The northbound and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to T.M. Kalaw Avenue will be closed starting 7 a.m. onwards, the Manila Police District (MPD) said in an advisory on Thursday.

Southbound light vehicles may turn left to P. Burgos, right to Ma. Orosa St., right to M.H. Del Pilar St. to point of destination.

Northbound light vehicles may turn right to Pres. Quirino Avenue to point of destination.

MPD said that southbound heavy vehicles such as trucks, may take the eastbound lane of P. Burgos to Finance Road, straight to Ayala Boulevard, right to San Marcelino St. to point of destination.

Northbound  trucks can turn right to Pres. Quirino Avenue to point of destination.

MPD said the closing and opening of affected roads will be based on actual traffic situation.
