Mandaluyong, San Juan families get cash aid
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has given cash assistance to families in Mandaluyong and San Juan gravely affected by the lockdown.
Sen. Richard Gordon, concurrent PRC chair, led last week the distribution of donations to residents of Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City who lost their houses in a fire earlier this month. The barangay also has the highest number of confirmed new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the city with 151 as of June 13.
In San Juan City, hundreds of families from Barangay West Crame, mostly those who lost their source of livelihood during the enhanced community quarantine, also received cash assistance.
“This is only part of the P70 million which we will be distributing throughout the country. This is not a dole. Use it to start anew. We are with you in your grief and we will rise,” Gordon told the beneficiaries.
Mandaluyong and San Juan cities are the first of 18 cities and municipalities that will receive cash assistance from PRC to help affected families meet their needs.
