A patient positive for COVID-19 has escaped from a quarantine facility in Sulu, prompting provincial police to conduct a search operation.
According to government reports, the patient was an overseas Filipino worker and was the second positive COVID-19 case in Sulu.
Jainap Abdulmajid, Sulu Task Force on COVID-19 information officer, said the patient escaped Sunday after breaking out of the window of the facility he was staying in.
The patient was supposed to undergo another swab test on Monday after serving the mandatory two-week quarantine.
Abdulmajid said that he’s worried about the situation since there is still no confirmation that the patient is cleared of the virus.
A team made up of police officers and members of the task force failed to find the patient in his parents’ home and other relatives in Jolo.
